A native of Alexandria, Virginia, Richard Gray has been working with wood for more than 30 years. He began building new homes and renovating and remodeling old ones, and eventually transitioned into custom cabinet-making and high-quality interior finish work. He later studied furniture making at the North Bennet Street School in Boston, a school renowned for teaching in the 18^th-century tradition, considered by many to be the peak of woodworking craftsmanship. He is constantly refining his craft and enjoys working with exotic and domestic hardwoods. His style reflects the traditional influences of the eastern U.S., principally New England, where he went to college, and the Craftsman movement of the West (Gothic, Colorado and Sun Valley, Idaho) where he lived and worked for many years. Furniture pieces are specially designed, built completely by hand and to order, and shipped to clients all over the U.S., with the intention that each piece becomes a cherished family heirloom.

Today Richard works in Greater Boston where he collaborates closely with individuals, architects and contractors, interior designers and restoration specialists, striving to create unique home and office environments that reflect the needs and styles of each client. All homes are unique and all work is custom, whether it’s a small bath vanity to blend in with a 19^th century townhome or all the cabinetry for a 21^st century house.
